What is the purpose of the diplomatic talks with Iran?

The representatives in the meetings are there to do one thing: pressure the IRI either thru use of rewards or some sorts of punishments to get the Iranian government to cooperate. That's basically it in a nutshell.

So, here are the mullahs, being diplomatically pressured on the one hand by countries that seem to be of one voice (at least for now), and on the other hand, they' re being physically threatened with bombing by Israel. And they know the Israelis aren't all fluff, cuz they've bombed nuke facilities in other countries before - so the mullahs know the Israelis are real serious with their threats of actual phsyical harm and destruction, which to most people is certainly worse than sanctions.

Now, the Iranian government hasn't flinched or changed their activities at all in response to physical harm and destruction of their country.The Israelis have essentially put a gun to Khamenie's head, and he's ignoring it. Why? Maybe he really is hoping for war to break out all over the region to usher in the Mahdi. Or maybe he just wants to be able to threaten & control others. Who knows?

The Question is: What on earth makes anyone in our diplomatic corps/our government/Obama/the governments of other countries, etc, WHAT on EARTH makes any of them THINK that the threat of sanctions (oooh scary) is going to put more pressure on the Iranian government to get them to cooperate than a gun to their heads???

Answer: It's NOT.
Months more talk isn't going to accomplish anything except buy more time for the mullahs. Neither will sanctions.There are ONLY 2 solutions: 1) help the Iranian people overthrow this regime- and FAST or 2) destroy the nuclear facilities as best we can, which will most likely only make the world have to deal with this same situation a few years from now.
PERIOD. There is NO other solution.
Governments & diplomats of the world, accept that !
Now get busy planning for one of those 2 solutions!

United4Iran(and Leftists) Rally

On a visit to Boulder, CO, I attended the United 4Iran Rally on July 25.
I had already seen the list of "supporters" on their website, and realized it would have a Leftist slant. Nelson Mandela and S. Africa were mentioned several times, not that the situation there has much in common with Iran.

I was carrying an Iranian flag with the Sun & Lion on it. I noticed just a couple of others with the Sun & Lion flag, and they were Iranians.
I had been at the rally for about 40mins, when an Iranian woman who was holding one of the pre-made signs that were made for the rally, approached me, and said that the symbol on the flag I was holding was being used gainst Iranian students in Iran. I said "what?" She repeated that the symbol on the flag I had was being used against students in Iran and they were being arrested & tortured because of it. I told her I knew exactly what the flag was.
She said the symbol had an old history and I shouldn't be carrying that flag. I interrupted her and told her that it was given to me by an Iranian who was a student and he wanted me to carry it and I do so proudly. Realizing she wasn't going to get anywhere with me, she walked away.

She never hassled the Iranians who were carrying Sun & Lion flags. So, I can only assume that she thought I didn't know anything about the flag and she thought that she could intimidate me into putting it away.

I believe she was another Leftist/communist anti-imperialist trying to rid the rally of a symbol that SHE detested, and had no problem lying in order to try to achieve that.

My big question: Why on earth was there a Mexican/Indian emC'ing and giving some sort of native ritual 'blessing' song at a rally for Iranians? Why not an Iranian performing a Persian song or Persian poem?

I hope Iranian freedom/democracy movements can steer clear of the farLeft groups in the future. Their MO for decades has been to usurp other movements. They aren't really interested in anything except furthering their own cause.

Despite the negatives, the end of my time there was made memorable by one Iranian in particular who loved the flag I was holding. I'll keep that story to myself.

It's been over 24hrs, and to the best of my knowledge, the Commander in Chief of our Armed Forces (Mr. Obama) has NOT made a public statement regarding the shooting of 2 of his soldiers at a recruitment office in Little Rock. (forget that the shooter is a muslim convert who was being watched by the FBI)

It took him only 7 hrs to make a statement after the shooting of the abortion doctor in Kansas 2 days ago.

Those are the facts.

Draw your own conclusions as to which murder meant more to Mr. Obama.

Personally, it is unfathomable that the President of the United States would refrain from publicly expressing his feelings about this tragedy as soon as possible afterward, but prefer to keep a low profile.

What message does he think that sends to men & women in the armed forces under his command?

I suppose if enough people start making noise about it, he will be forced to make a public statement.

This is in response to Winston's comments. It was turning into a long reply, so I figured I might as well post it as a new entry.

One purpose of a blog is for people to rant, I guess. If people have a decent rant, let's hear it. Though I still feel that blogs should be educational and informative. (which your blog, Winston, certainly is)

I have a problem with adults copying immature adolescent behavior and thinking that it's perfectly fine. ( I'm not talking about wanting to stay vital and active throughout your life.)
Who started the trend that blogs were for divulging personal information? I suppose it was a young person, because that's typical immature behavior for them. It's NOT normal behavior for an adult. That's my point. When I come across a blog written by an adult who is revealing all sorts of personal information about themsleves and their relationships, it a red flag that the author is mentally unstable and I move on. It's crossed the bounds of being a normal rant.

[btw - I don't understand the Twitter phenom either. If it's being used to spread a news story or educate in some way, fine. And if you're a 17 yr old wanting to keep in touch with your friends to let them know that you're going to Dairy Queen later, well, okay, I can understand that.
But if you're an adult and feel you need to post your daily activities on Twitter, there's something wrong with that].

This is all a sad reflection of society today, and its decline.
We expect children & adolescents and 20-somethings to be self involved and think the world cares about their lives. IOW - Narcissism is kind of normal in young people. But as people mature, they realize that it's a big world out there and they aren't the center of the universe anymore. It's what being emotionally mature is all about.
When people over the age of 30 are still so self-absorbed that they have a need or desire to tell the world about their personal day to day life expecting some kind of sympathetic response from strangers, it's pathological (btw-part of the definiton of narcissism is: "requiring excessive admiration, adulation, attention & affirmation" ; "constantly envious of others") and if this becomes a more common and accepted practice in society, we're in trouble, not just as a society, but a civilization.

I don't understand personal diary blogs. I don't have the ego for it. I have a hard enough time convincing myself to post here occasionally.
Blogs should be for sharing information; for educating others and stimulating thought and exchanging ideas.
I don't understand these personal blogs that drone on about someone's misfortunes and screwed up relationships or their latest shoe purchase.
I can kind of see a teenager or even a 20 yr old writing about their personal life & problems publicly on a blog, but once you're in your 30's, you're too old for that. If you're over 30 and still needing to regularly spill your guts to the world on a blog about your messed up life and personal problems, you've got more problems than you even realize and you seriously need a therapist or something.

What makes a person think that the rest of the world needs to hear about their very ordinary life? Is he or she writing so that strangers can pat them on the back and say "there, there Dear, everything will be alright" ?
Stop wasting bandwidth with narcissistic whining and complaining and 'woe is me' crap or your latest date or shopping venture. Get over yourself. Accept the fact that your life just isn't that interesting or important to people outside your family and circle of friends.
Everyone has problems - Yours aren't unique, and many people have problems a lot worse than you.

If you want to write, keep a diary, fine - But do it for yourself and keep it private. That's what keeping a diary or notebook of your thoughts is all about.
And, next time you get the urge to post personal details about your mundane life for the world to read, please don't. Call a friend or make an appointment with a therapist - cuz feeling like you need to put all this personal stuff out there isn't a sign of a healthy mind.

The Ayers - Said - Mansour connection to Obama

Ayers was apparently a good friend of Edward Said, who was also a professor at Columbia (he died in Sept. 2003), whom Obama also knew there and continued to associate with afterward. There’s a picture circulating of Obama and Said in 1998, at a dinner of Arab Americans in Chicago where Said was the keynote speaker. Said served on the Palestine Nat’l Council and wrote a forward for Ayers’ book “Fugitive Days”.

Said was a friend of Khalid al Mansour - who btw also gave lectures at Columbia - and it is Mansour who supposedly helped Obama get into Harvard. (the one thing we know for a fact, he didn’t make in on his grades, because he didn't graduate Columbia with Honors)

Who knows what student group(s) Obama was associated with at Columbia, but what I will venture to say is this: Every one of these people is/was extremely pro-palestinian and that's NOT something that Obama's people want advertised in cities and states with a large Jewish voting block, AND one more thing....you aren't supported and trusted by people like this, unless you're one of them and have proven it.

ST. PAUL -- Okay, here's my Republican Convention story. After I did my little tiny bit of reporting work from St. Paul's Xcel Center on Wednesday, I got into a taxi to head back to my hotel. Of course we got stuck in traffic.
I asked my driver, a rugged looking fellow, where he was from and how he was enjoying the convention.It was as if I had uncorked a bottle of champagne.

"Have you ever heard of Ogaden?" he asked me.

"Yes, it's part of Ethiopia," I said. "Lots of fighting there."

"It is a huge area. Seven million people. Government of Ethiopia gives us no schools, no hospitals, no clinics, nothing. Just poor nomads who want something more. There is oil there and other people get rich from it and we stay poor.
"I was a nomad," he said. "I had nothing. I escaped when they wanted to put me in the army to fight in Somalia. I went to Kenya, then came here. Kenya is a beautiful country, but there is no country like the United States.
"I have been here sixteen years. I came with nothing. I have a taxi now. I am in graduate school at the University of Minnesota. I have a wife and three kids. We have a house and two cars and air conditioning. I brought over my two brothers. They were grazing sheep. Now one is a chemical engineer and one is studying English literature. In the United States anything can happen."

I thought to myself, this is the real story of America, not Sarah Palin or Joe Biden. This taxi driver who found his dreams in the Twin Cities.

"Listen, I know people who talk bad about the United States," my driver said. "I tell them, if you work you can accomplish anything in this country. If you don't, there's something wrong with you, not this country. This country is the best country in the world. Everyone," and here he raised his voice and wagged his finger, "everyone in the world wants to come here. And they're right."

The rest of the convention was fine, but I got my lesson from that taxi driver from a war torn hellhole, who found his Garden of Eden in Minnesota. God bless this great country.

The U.S. State Dept, as well as its counterparts in Europe and elsewhere, are guilty of parsing the dangers of the Iranian regime.
In order to "comprehend" and take action against this theocratic totalitarian regime, they parse the dangers that the regime presents and try to deal with each one separately.

This results in a policy of dealing with the Iranian regime: being a danger due to their nuclear ambitions; being a danger due to their interference in Iraq; being a danger due to their hatred of Israel; being a danger due to their hatred of the U.S.; being a danger due to their support of hezbollah; being a danger due to their religious expansionism ambitions; being a danger due to their support of terrorists; being a danger due to their lack of humanitarian treatment of their own citizens; being a danger because of their religious/philosophical beliefs, etc. Each parsing of their dangers is seen as an individual challenge to be dealt with.

You can't break up the evil that is the Iranian regime and try to separate the dangers into smaller components and think that you can tackle each one of these smaller components and thereby solve the problem. While you are wasting time trying to act on one problem, the regime is busily tending to its other evil deeds unfettered.

The idea that this enemy can be conquered by trying to individually subdue each one of its dangerous tentacles is utter folly or incredibly naive, at best. This is even more true when you're under a time constraint, such as preventing the impending acquisition of nuclear weapons by this regime.

This enemy must be dealt with head on. In other words, bring down the regime - Now.

The State Dept and others in this Adminstration must stop dissecting this enemy and accept that the solution is to cut off the head of this evil monster, and its far reaching evil tentacles will die too. Want to end most of the problems in Iraq? Get rid of the Iranian regime. Want peace in the Middle East? Get rid of this regime. Want to get rid of the threat of nuclear weapons in the hands of the mullahs? Get rid of this regime. Want to get rid of menacing influences in S. America? Get rid of this regime. Want to get rid of hezbollah? Get rid of this regime. Want to feel more secure within our own country? Get rid of this regime. Etc, etc. Got the message?

Suggestions? Bomb Revolutionary Guards Corps bases, terrorist training camps, Ahmadinejad & Khamenie's residences, majlis (preferrably while its in session). Then drop a couple million leaflets notifying the Iranians that our intent is to get rid of the regime, not invade the country. Tell them the following: We know the Iranian people yearn for a free and prosperous country and we're giving them the ability to have that - We're getting rid of your jailers so the people can be free to choose their own government and live in a free Iran. Our countries used to be friends and we want to be so again. We will help you however we can.

We can't put this off any longer. Mr. President, make the bold decision and make the world safer by ridding the world of this evil regime in Iran.

I was discussing the Iranian regime & MEK today with my friend Winston at Spirit of Man and whether the U. S should remove the Terrorist designation from MEK/NCRI in order to facilitate their going after the regime themselves.

My answer was NO.

What I have learned over the years regarding Iranian people and the Regime, is that they see eye to eye on few things, but hatred and distrust of MEK is one of them. MEK tries to promote themselves as having a large following in Iran - that's ridiculous. Aside from being a Stalinst/Islamic/ personality cult, they are viewed as traitors, and Iranians would fight against any intervention by MEK.

If the U.S. removed the Terrorist designation, the regime would be on the radio, TV, newspapers using that as propaganda against us. Any attempts by us in the future to gain trust of Iranians would be much more difficult. We would make more enemies within Iran and when the MEK's attempts at a coup failed (and they would), all the words of Pres. Bush to the Iranian people building trust over these 8 yrs will have been for nothing.

Giving in to MEK by taking them off the Terrorist list, would send a very bad message to the Iranian people. Unfortunately, most non-Iranians don't understand this - sadly, that includes some of our members of congress.

Iran's nuclear facilities must be neutralized before they go online and produce electricity.
Right now, the vast majority of Iranian people are distrusting and skeptical and suspicious of regime's motives and reasons behind going ahead with nuclear projects. Many are afraid of nuclear power in the hands of the mullahs.
The regime knows this and also knows that getting the people behind them is important, as well as the 'show' it will put on for the world when it first produces electricity for its citizens.
But once they begin to actually supply the people with electricity, their facilities will be legitimized and will be defended by the citizens as well as others outside Iran. No one will be able to act after the regime is allowed to 'prove' to the world that they were developing nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

Something absolutely must be done before then.

The Real Bhutto?

What to say about Benazir Bhutto? Obviously, people are sending their condolences to her family & friends following her assassination. No one wanted that. (except the terrorists and those plotting against her)

But people on the Right (I'll leave the Left out of this) can't seem to agree on Bhutto. Depending upon whom you read or listen to, she was either a corrupt politician from a corrupt family who had the backing of about 25% of Pakistan, or a symbol for peace and democracy who had the backing of about 45% in Pakistan.

I don't know if anyone really has the true numbers - I'm not sure it's possible to know them given the corruption and religious subjugation in Pakistan - and I think the real Bhutto lies somewhere in between the 2 descriptions above.

We'll never know if the experiment of Musharraf & Bhutto running Pakistan would have worked at all, or how long it could have lasted, or what affect it could have had.
I think that's the big unknown and disappointment.

Now, wouldn't it be great if her murder became the impetus and rationale for Musharraf to really go after alQaeda & the terrorists in the tribal areas in the North?
What a great legacy for both Musharraf and Bhutto!

This was interesting. A phone survey of 1,000 people inside Iran done by a group out of Washington, D.C. Not crazy about the people in the group, Terror Free Tomorrow, but the results of the survey are interesting.

For example : 70% favor normal relations and trade with the U.S.;
61% of Iranians were willing to tell our pollsters over the phone that they oppose the current Iranian system of government, where the Supreme Leader rules according to religious principles and cannot be chosen or replaced by direct vote of the people; over 79% support a democratic system instead, in which all the leaders can be chosen and replaced by a free and direct vote of the people.

The poll found people in favor of democratically electing all their leaders in all the provinces in both urban and rural areas. That's noteworthy.

Obviously, people on the phone don't know who is calling them, or who may be listening to their phonecall, so the results of the survey are more suggestive than accurately reflecting the true sentiments of the people. But seeing that so many were willing to take the chance and answer more honestly is significant itself.

I'm sure the regime is not happy.

In this interview of Scott Ritter by Amy Goodman, you will see the enemy of the Iranian people. (not to mention the people of N. Korea, China and the U.S.)
Not only do they both think that President Bush is hell-bent on war with Iran, N.Korea and who knows what other countries, but they don't seem to understand that getting rid of the current dictators of Iran and N. He interviewed " senior government officials, senior military officials, senior intelligence officials," - now there's a wide variety of opinions - NOT! They played you like a kamancheh (Persian fiddle).
His conclusions after talking to these regime employees who, incidently, get together on a regular basis to chant Death to America? ...Ritter's conclusion is that Iran "does not constitute a threat to the United States whatsoever". LOL. Scott, you're either an idiot or blind. They've been a threat to us for 27 yrs!
Please read up on terrorist attacks against U.S. facilities over the past 27 years.

Ritter has a real problem with the U.S. being on the side of oppressed people and wanting to see regime change. I wish we were as committed to regime change in Iran as Ritter thinks. If we were, something would have happened by now.
One question Scott: What the heck is wrong with regime change in Iran, N. Korea and China, for that matter? Just what is wrong with getting rid of the bastards who run those countries? Khatami's BS

CSPAN aired Khatami's speech at Harvard. After his spiel, he took questions. His answers included laughable lies and recurrent themes.
One student asked about the current Holocaust cartoon exhibition in Tehran. He said that the exhibit shouldn't be taken as official policy of the IRI because there are freedoms in Iran, as there are here. LOL!! Yes, he said that with a straight face! Then he repeated a statement I'd heard him make before, which was supposed to convince everyone how free Iranians are to speak their minds against the government. He said that when he was president, many people disagreed and were free to speak out against him, and he's proud of that. LoL.
(Nevermind that the regime shut down about 100 newspapers and magazines while he was president and just shut down another newspaper - a 'reformist' one)

Then he was asked about capital punishment, specifically with regard to gays in Iran and how that fits in with his talk of non-violence.
He gave the regime line : punishment is not a form of violence. Punishment is a response to deviance and violent acts. Homosexuality is a crime in islam and crimes are punishable. Then of course he had to say that capital punishent is used in the U.S.. He said that Iran has strict rules for the use of capital punishment and that it shouldn't be used often. He didn't mention that the regime breaks its own rules all the time (like inventing charges against people) and their preferred method of capital punishment is hanging people from cranes which is a violent and inhumane death, because it strangles the person rather than traditional hanging which instantly breaks the person's neck. The person may struggle for over 10 mins before they finally die. Their method of capital punishment is meant as a spectacle because it's carried out in public and the corpse is left hanging afterward for all to see.
Not at all like the capital punishment used here. We reserve the ultimate punishment for the ultimate crimes... murder. Not several different crimes, one being speaking against the Supreme Leader and another being converting to another religion.

I also saw the press conference he gave at Washington's National Cathedral.
He repeated that Iran is a democracy (several times) and are therefore people are free to speak. (until they're arrested) He took pride in all the dissent toward him during his presidency. After all, that was proof that Iran is a democracy just like the U.S.

I noticed he had some trouble dealing with questions about Ahmadinejad, though he managed to parse his words and rephrase a re-explain to everyone what Ahmadinejad REALLY meant in some of his outrageous statements against jews, Israel, and the U.S. (Don't believe your lying ears or problems with the translation)
Hard to convince people that you're really for peace and brotherhood when you support the regime too. But he tried his lying best.

So, people who bothered to listen at all, got a taste of the doublespeak that the Iranian people are fed every day. Hopefully, they caught it. Maybe some even caught that Khatami used the same talking points as the democrats and leftists in this country. The side-by-side comparisons between the statements coming from the regime and those coming from the DNC would be a revealing post. In fact, it would make an interesting ad during this upcoming election time. I wonder if anyone has the nerve to do it? I seriously doubt it.

Here's a clue to voters on the fence or anyone who truly cares about the future of the civilized world : If one side is taking a position that the world's biggest supporter of terrorism is taking, vote for the other side.

This time it was with the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov.
Wolf tried 3 times, though gently, to get a straight answer from Mr. Lavrov regarding ties between Hezbollah and Syria & Iran. Like anyone needs to ask in the first place??
When Blitzer asked him finally, if there were any financial ties between Hezbollah and Iran or Syria, Mr. Lavrov said that there are accusations or rumors to that effect, but that he deals only in facts. LOL!!

So, the Syrian ambassador to the U.S. was interviewed by Wolf Blitzer on CNN (which I rarely watch) last night. Quite a fast talker with a squeaky voice.
What made me laugh, and I wish Blitzer had laughed in the guy's face, was when Wolf asked him if there was any kind of agreement or pact between Syria and Iran, and without skipping a beat, the Syrian ambassador said 'no there wasn't' and just kept rambling on. I laughed.
I would love to have heard Wolf challenge him and say "Oh, come now!" But no, Wolf let him race on condemning the Israelis and the U.S. for siding with the Israelis.
A missed opportunity for some memorable TV there, Wolf!

Has anyone ever asked the leaders and followers of the pro-immigration Left, why the people from Mexico should get special preference for the "jobs Americans won't do?" I mean, there are plenty of poor Asians who wouldn't mind picking vegetables instead of working in the rice patties. Why shouldn't they get the same opportunity to " do the jobs that Americans won't do" ? Why shouldn't we limit the number of Mexicans and central Americans sneaking in and allow Asians (an others) to enter legally to do the work?

What is the Left's response to that?
Why should migration only occur with those south of the border? What about those who want to migrate from across the ocean? There's only room for so many and only enough "jobs that Americans won't do" for so many, so why should non-hispanics' desire to migrate take a back seat?
I'd like to hear the answer.

Mezbah Yazdi leads the Hojatieh sect, and is Ahmadinejad's mentor.
Khomeini was against the Hojatieh sect and they didn't support him at the time of the revolution in 1979.

I've been checking out the Liberal web site Daily Kos. (btw-is it pronounced kose or chaos? Seems I hear people say both. I'm hoping it's chaos, because that reflects what's going on over there. I won't get into the meaning of kos in Persian)
I've been drawn to some threads and discussions on Iran and when I'm not laughing, I'm in a state of disbelief that these people really believe this stuff they're writing.

All the World is a Conspiracy

Conspiracy theories seem to be the main glue holding things together at Kos. Well, that and Left-wing politics.
They’ve got a conspiracy theory for everything. In fact, someone was telling me about a statue or bust of President Bush that has become a topic of conversation among the Leftists , because it has a plaque with the date and year his presidency began, but the date of his presidency ending is left blank to be filled in later. Well, don’t you know what that means? At the Kos, it means that Bush is going to try to extend his presidency beyond his legal 8 years! I kid you not! The idea that it was left blank in case he should become incapacitated or heaven forbid, die, or resign or gets impeached (hey, that one ought to be in the front of their minds seeing as how some of their heroes are pushing for impeachment all the time) apparently went right over their heads.
Why go for the obvious when you can get a good conspiracy theory going?

Anyway, the main focus at the Kos regarding Iran, comes down to one main conspiracy theory: the White House wants to start a war in Iran and anything that is said or done with respect to Iran, is for that ultimate purpose. Never mind that the U.N. is involved, and we basically turned things over to the EU to try to work things out, they’re convinced that this President wants to invade Iran, and nothing is going to stop him. Well, not quite. The Leftists are going to try to stop him, by revealing Bush’s grand scheme of going to war in Iran to everyone else in the country.

Why does he want to start a war in Iran? I’m not sure, but I’ll hazard a guess they think it has something to do with the President’s plans to steal Iran’s oil and make all his oil buddy friends even richer than they are. They probably think he likes wars, too. Maybe you have some other ideas why they’re so convinced that Bush is salivating to go to war.

So, how is President Bush going to make the case to the American people for going to war? Drum roll please……………………………

That’s right. He’s doing it now. He’s out there talking about how bad the Iranian regime is. And not only is he doing it himself, (along with all of his Neocon agents), he’s getting the media to do it too! Yes, the media is helping President Bush to scare the American people. In fact, the media has been scaring the American people into supporting the war. I’ll bet you didn’t know that! Who woulda thunk the media was helping Bush?!

That’s right. Those wonderful murdering mullahs known for hanging people from cranes, stoning women to death, whipping children tied to poles for having dared to attend a mixed boy/girl birthday party, and countless other depraved and satanic acts, need to be demonized by the White House. After all, the mullahs’ actions over the past 27 years aren’t demonic enough for the average person to have figured out that they are evil incarnate.

And what about Ahmadinejad? Isn’t the hate speech coming from his mouth bad enough? No. Apparently, there’s room for some to think that he might be an okay guy, so the White House has to demonize him also.

So, now you know. The secret is out.
Be prepared to hear lots of bad stuff about life in Iran because the White House and Bush’s minions are going to be out there telling you lies and exaggerating about the suffering endured by Iranians for the past 27 years, so that he can make a case for war.

After all, things really aren’t so bad in Iran.
According to the Left, life in Iran is better than here, because there’s a higher literacy rate, the health care is better and statistically there are fewer people in jail compared to the U.S.

Oh, and if you happen to hear about the oppression and suffering of the Iranian people from an actual Iranian person on the TV, who is here in the U.S., or maybe even in Europe, that person is a White House shill. Yup. That’s the word from the Daily Kos.
Any Iranian dissident who appears on TV or radio or in the print media who is calling for regime change in Iran, is a White House ‘plant’ and probably his/her story and background information is fiction. Nevermind that its been documented by human rights groups. They can’t be trusted either. (yes, this is all being said at Kos)

That sounds like an accurate description of what the conservatives’ function is in this country. So I don’t mind the term “wingnut”, because without us to stabilize things and hold the country together, the screwy Left would cause the country to fall apart.

They’re absolutely bonkers and it does make for entertaining reading.
All I can say is, I’m glad I’m a “wing nut” and I hope there are enough “wingnuts” out there to hold things together and keep this country from falling apart. Right now, I have some doubts.

As for Iran, the White House needs to be putting all its efforts into supporting the Iranian people and helping them to bring down this regime. The demise of the regime is the key to fighting terrorism and having peace in the Middle East. Not to mention freeing the Iranian people from the tyranny they've lived under since 1979.

David Frum wrote an article the other day called, "Give Ahmadinejad the Cold Shoulder", in which he discusses and gives 6 reasons for the U.S. to not bend to the wishes & calls for the U.S. to conduct direct negotiations with the Iranian regime:
1) "The United States will learn nothing from direct negotiations with Iran that it does not already know. "
2) " The Iranians do not negotiate in good faith."
3) " For the Iranians, the main purpose of negotiations is delay."
4) "The Iranians will score a propaganda victory."
5) "leaving negotiations to the EU enhances allied solidarity"

The final reason really sums things up:

6) "the reason we are hearing calls for the U.S. to talk to Iran is precisely that the talks between the EU-3 and Iran have failed. Iran has resumed its progress toward a nuclear bomb (assuming, that is, that it ever paused). The spotlight now needs to be placed clearly on Iran and the threat it presents to regional and world peace. Allowing the U.S. to be dragged into the spotlight too as a negotiating partner will change the subject--from Iranian aggression to America's alleged intransigence or dilatoriness or whatever it is that America's international critics will think up next to shift the blame away from the true villains of the story.

We have to acknowledge this much now: The present Iranian government wants a nuclear bomb. It will not be coaxed into changing its mind."

This "shift(ing) of the blame away from the true villains of the story" would feed right into the hands of the democrats and the U.N., not to mention the Iranian regime.
Does it really take an I.Q. higher than 80 to figure out that the regime is on a mission that requires nuclear weapons, and "will not be coaxed into changing its mind"?

Anyone who thinks that they can negotiate with a gov't putting out this kind of religious "End Times"/Armageddon message, had better slap themselves really hard and wake up! You can't negotiate and reason with people like this. They aren't operating on the same plane or planet as the rest of us. They are driven by an illogical obsession and no amount of reasoning or logic is going to change their minds.

The only logical way out of this situation is to remove the current Iranian regime and allow the Iranian people to vote on a referendum for a new gov't and new representatives.

Reza Pahlavi is trying to unite various opposition groups in a coordinated effort to help bring down the regime. Washington needs to put money and resources behind this effort. The EU needs to put money and resources behind this effort.

Put this regime out of business and the nuclear weapons threat disappears.

Excellent. Not only criminalize debate, Mr. Rubin, but shut it down. I believe, that should the likes of Hillary (and others) gain control of this government, you would see her (them) pass laws to shut down conservative radio talk shows, and any tv programs (FOX News), that try to confront or reveal or put forth an opposing view to the Liberal Left. There's a reason she has the nickname "Hitlery".

I watched some of the Minuteman rally in Washington the other day. Something Jim Gilchrist said, (founder of Minuteman Project) struck me. He pointed out, that the 'Minutemen' were trying to uphold our constitutional rights, and the people chanting and counter-demonstrating their rally, were trying to take them away.

That's exactly right!

The far Left doesn't like our Constitution. It allows for freedoms that they would amend or totally do away with. These people (and there's a growing crowd within our government) would make our country unrecognizable and in essence destroy it, if allowed to have control.

These aren't the same Liberal democrats of years past. And they aren't going to act like the democrats of the past once they're in control. They're angry and ruthless, and they'll stop at nothing to make as many changes in our government and Constitution as possible in order to suit their agenda.Much of the country hasn't caught on yet. They think it's business as usual in Washington. Far from it! Until they catch on, (and I believe they are slowly doing so) we need to protect our freedoms.

So, no matter how disappointed or angry our Republican representatives may make me (and believe me, they really tick me off sometimes. okay, they tick me off often), I will never allow my anger to cloud the 'Big Picture'. I hope others recognize the seriousness of this situation and take this to heart.
Write letters and emails, make phone calls, attend demonstrations, yell at the tv, but when it comes time to vote, NEVER cast a ballot that will go against our control of the government and thereby jeopardize our freedoms. (and that includes voting for a third party, which inevitably just gives a vote to the democrats because it's a loss of a vote for a Republican)
