Rubin on Khatami's visit
Khatami’s Visit to Washington [Michael Rubin]
If Khatami really cared about a dialogue of civilizations, he would go to Jerusalem, not Washington. I’m reminded of his October 24, 2000, statements on Iranian television: "In the Qur'an, God commanded to kill the wicked and those who do not see the rights of the oppressed… If we abide by human laws, we should mobilize the whole Islamic World for a sharp confrontation with the Zionist regime… If we abide by the Qur'an, all of use should mobilize to kill."
To invite Khatami to the National Cathedral to talk about tolerance is equivalent to inviting David Duke to talk about race relations.

Exactly right.

Bush should dump state dept and hand it to Cheney for internal clearance.
I think maybe John Bolton - US Ambassador to UN - would do a good job in State Dept.
But remember, the State Dept is supposed to be more dove than hawk, more talk less action, so to speak, to balance things out.
But right now I'd like to wring their necks.
You ought to listen to Hugh Hewitt's show on 30th of August about this
Winston -
I read the transcript.
Thanks for the heads-up.
